Baby on Steroids

For a while I was wondering when I was going to get my bump. I would look at pictures of other pregnant women and worry something was wrong with me. I no longer feel like that. This kid has gone through a serious growth spurt.

We got to hear the little nugget's heartbeat for the first time about a month ago. So much in awe, we forgot to record it. Thankfully we remembered at Monday's appointment.

(Please excuse Shamu on the table.)

Next month we get to find out if it's a she or a he! April 7 is the BIG day! It could've been April 3, but my wonderful love decided it would be fun to torture me for a few extra days and have a reveal cake. Cannot wait!!

Fall Pleasures

Fall is officially here! Except for today, we've been having wonderfully cool weather. I can't wait to wear hoodies, sweaters, and boots! Another plus is all the yummy pumpkin flavored foods/beverages....and also soups.

Tonight's menu: Shrimp & Tortellini Soup with homemade garlic croutons

Ingredients:

1 can condensed tomato soup
1 can evaporated milk
1 can diced tomatoes (I used Basil, Garlic & Oregano flavored)
1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
1 cup of the reserved pasta water
1 cup Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp fresh parsley
1 bag of medium shrimp (31-40 ct...I think they lie)
1 pkg of tortellini (I used the 3 cheese flavor)
Salt, pepper, and Italian Seasoning to taste

Cook tortellini for half the regular cooking time. In another larger pot, add tomato soup, diced tomatoes, evaporated milk, and broth. Bring to a boil. Add the uncooked shrimp to the boiling liquid and cook for 5 minutes. Add the Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, and  tortellini. Use the reserved pasta water to thin it out if needed. Simmer for 30 minutes.

A loaf of bread in my home could last forever. We don't make a lot of sandwiches here. Typically I will freeze half the loaf, and use the other half for the occasional PB&J sammich. The rest I'll use for breadcrumbs (in my Magic Bullet of course) and also, tonight I made croutons to go with the soup.

Croutons:

2 slices of bread
Italian seasoning
Garlic powder

Preheat oven to 450. Cut bread into bit size cubes. I sprayed with EVOO. Sprinkle generously with garlic and italian seasoning. Bake until brown, turning a couple times. #delicious

Enjoy!

I Have a Thing & Puppy Sleepovers

After twenty-ni twenty-something years of life I've found my "thing". I've never really had the coordination or fearlessness to play a contact sport. My natural reaction when a ball flies at my face is to duck or run the other way while screeching like a girl. Not really a good thing.
With 2 races under my belt, I've realized, with a little help, that running may be my thing. This excites me because I never though I'd find something in the sports area that I'd be semi-good at. I say semi because I was told my time wasn't that great. However, the person that said this gets winded getting off the couch. I took it with a grain of salt ;)
It never occurred to me that I may have a competitive bone in my body, but when I'm out there it feels spectacular weaving in and out of the slow-pokes and pushing ahead. Maybe one day I'll actually beat them all. Not likely, but a good dream anyway. It is always a plus to be rewarded with wine/beer at the end of a race. The race I just signed up for is the Philly Beer Run. Nothing like a frosty brew at the end of a run!

Goals:
My longest race so far has been a 5k. Eventually I would like to work my up to a 10k and even a 10 miler. I'll leave the Half to my Runner Sister. The last race's mile time according to the race records was a 9:06; my device said 8:58. I'll stick with that number and aim to beat it next time.
Problems:
Bunching shorts and wedgies.

Now that it's getting warmer out I'll be wearing my fitted shorts. I always seem to have a problem with them riding up the middle. Anyone have any solutions? I was told to try BodyGlide Anti Chafe-Balm. So far my thighs haven't ignited any fires, I just want the shorts to stay where they're supposed to be.

After Saturday's race, Lulu, her friend Miley, who was spending the weekend, and I all cuddled up and took a lovely 3 hour nap. #expertcuddlers Afterwards, we spent a little time outside- me throwing the ball for Lulu while Miley chilled on my lap. On Sunday we went to watch Papi/Uncle Danny's soccer game, where they also met up with friend Hamlet.
Here are just a few pics from the weekend :)

They liked to watch me do my  hair & makeup

Enjoying the view

Lulu, go get the ball. I'll stay here.
